January 2023 is all about Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a popular city for people who travel in South East Asia or want to make Malaysia their second home. How is Kuala Lumpur today in 2023? Is it expensive, what's the price for food, groceries, eating out, public transport, SIM cards? What kind of food choices will you have in Malaysia?

Wandering Soul May 23, 2023 at 3:57 am

So, KL is expensive for Russians ?

ww. 123 May 23, 2023 at 3:57 am

Xeeds Enterprise May 23, 2023 at 3:57 am

I am Malaysian and when I see all this foreigners comes to Malaysia and they go to the main city downtown and compare the prices where everything thing will be 3 to 4 times higher than in outskirt ….cost of living in downtown will be always higher in every downtown countries around the world so do go to other places outskirt and do you compare research then you guys can know the difference cox there are so many cheap shopping supermarkets out there for the same thing even the foods as well.

i don't understand if you rented a 900$ condominium then why you have to eat food outside.. your condominium is fully furnished so all you need to do is buy groceries and cook at home that will save you almost 70% of the cost which you are spending on eating outside and my experience says that the restaurants you think are hygienic are actually not so hygienic as they look so the best option is to cook at home its the most hygienic and cheapest way to eat and its healthy too

Abdul Latif Shaari May 23, 2023 at 3:57 am

I think Kuala Lumpur is cheaper than Bangkok.

Jom Bali May 23, 2023 at 3:57 am

IF U GUYS ARE STILL HERE.
THEN MUST VISIT FOOD COURT OF THE INTERMARK, JUST 5 MIN WALK FROM KLCC NEXT TO AMPANG PARK LRT STATION.
HERE U CAN FIND VERY NICE DISHES JUST BETWEEN RM 15-25. REALLY U WILL LOVE IT.

Which city (Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok) easier for expats finding restaurants that offer homeland cuisines with authentic taste?

Lizzie Dove May 23, 2023 at 3:57 am

Have you tried to buy groceries at the wet markets? Aren't they much cheaper for fresh meat, fish and veggies?

Sobie Saleh May 23, 2023 at 3:57 am

The Arabic restaurant (I believe this is at Sunway Putra) is tasteless and total ripped off (trust me I went there recently with family of 10). You should go to Bukit Bintang or many areas in KL to get good and affordable Arabic food.

Tim C May 23, 2023 at 3:57 am

I live in the United States and the prices you were showing for western foods in the grocery stores like the Lipton tea and other items are actually the same or even cheaper than here in the USA. Inflation here had doubled or tripled the price of our groceries.

Mercato, Ben's and Jaya Grocer is more expensive… locals would buy at Lotus or Giant…

Glad you guys are having a good time in KL and Malaysia .. Funny but I'm in Antalya !! They miss you both . Lots of Russians here , tons but prices for us Americanos is very affordable . KL is expensive for Asia and between the immigration hassles , prices and the like there are better choices ! Glad you are both doing well . Tomorrow I'm over to Alanya with friends .. Have a great time in Asia .. By the way I had a nice pizza at my Avion Hotel and it was only $6 and delicious … Love the people here ….

Japanese food is only best in Japan. If you see Japanese people eating at a restaurant outside of Japan, it means that restaurant is pretty close to Japanese rice standard (not the same but good enough).///Thailand's fruits are incredible. So many varieties everyday & big harvest, fresh & delicious at the supermarket (although the prices are not cheap but ok for the quality). The Thai Avocado has a huge size version, besides the normal size. The Dragon fruit is huge (white & red flesh). The sweetest & juiciest Star fruit. There are at least 3 types of pineapples, at least 2 types of papayas, at least 4 types of bananas. They import huge grapes & apples & white strawberries from Japan. I don't think I can go back to Turkey which has so little to eat./// The Malaysian supermarket in your video… prices are same as (or similar to) Singapore, expensive.
