XO, Aimara & Gordon โ

What did you guys think? Any new foods you learned about? If you're a local please send us more recs! (but no seafood ๐ we know that's hard). Thanks so much for watching and we will see you back in ๐ฒ๐พโ๐ผ
White radish in mandarin (chinese)= white carrot….็บข่ๅ(red), ็ฝ่ๅ(white)…so both are ่ๅใใthats why its called carrot cake…
Lost of spicy sauces ๐ฅต
The 2 hawker centres (Lau Pa Sat & Newton Good Centre, Satay By The Bay) u guys been to are the touristy ones. U should venture out to the public housing estates and u will find much more affordable and yummy food.
U should try the best Kaya toasts from either Ya Kun or Killiney Kopitiam. U get real original butter version with butter slices sandwich in the toasts and not the Planter margarine version.
Maybe you didn't add in the soya sauce and pepper. This is my childhood breakfast until now.
Appreciate the quick transit tip about credit card use. Straight and to the point.
Usually our coffee is favoured with condensed or evaporated milk depending on whether you order kopi(condensed) or kopi si(evaporated). If you just want black coffee, we order as Kopi O.
Carrot Cake is literally translated from Hokkien dialect. โWhiteโ Radish and โOrangeโ Carrot we all knew as in Hokkien are both called โCai Taoโ. So โCai Tao Kuehโ literally means โCarrot Cakeโ.๐
if you do go back for Kaya Toast, make sure you remember the pepper and soya sauce – there will also be small spoons which you can help yourself to – that is what you use to eat the eggs with! Some people like to eat the eggs separately from the toast, some like to dip them. There's no right or wrong. If you go back to Malaysia (especially Penang), some breakfast coffee shops will also serve toast and half boiled eggs. The toast usually will be butter and sugar in most places. The Singaporean version is more elevated – both slightly different. Neither better than the other – no food fights here, the fight is ongoing on another thread!
Sad that most travellers always left out trying Malay food in Singapore. Guys we're a multi racial country, Singaporean food is not only Chinese.
That's is not margarine, it's butter. Margarine contains unsaturated fat and is definitely not healthy compared to butter.
Welcome to small city, hope you enjoy and have fun๐๐ ๐ฅฐ
That wasn't Popiah you had. It was Ngoh Hiang. ๐
The soft boiled eggs take a little getting used to. Adding some soy sauce and white pepper is the way they are normally eaten. Itโs been ten years since I was last in Singapore and I still have cravings for kaya toast and eggs.
Oh No !! That was NOT popiah. Itโs a ngoh hiang dish. You should have gotten a local ( born & bred here) Singaporean to bring you around.
Noooo ! I donโt know why tourists / foreigners dip their kaya toast into the soft~boiled egg ๐ค By the way, we add dark soy sauce into the egg. Eat the toast separately as itโs nice & crispy. Why soften it in the soggy egg ?๐
as a local, I have never eaten the kaya toast dipped into the eggs….
Not even sure that is a thing until i see it in various youtube video.
condensed milk
Radish is white carrot in chinese
LAU=OLD in chinese , PAT SAT=MARKET in malay
Not recommend to watch this video on empty stomac ๐คฃ I literally had to pause the video and grab something to eat ๐คฃ๐คฃ . Thanks for another delicious video ๐คฉ๐คฉ
Thats definitely NOT Popiah!
Wow you are eating at all the "Crazy Rich Asians" places!
You went to Singapore to eat Din Tai Fong? Goodness. It is from taiwan.
Singapore was a state in Malaysia until both split. Before that it was part of straits settlement like penang and melaka. Obviously the food is similar
Welcome to Singapore๐นFYI the half boil egg should come with black soya sauce n pepper for you to add to it's flavour๏ผn oso a small spoon to scalp the egg white inside the shell๐Hope u will enjoy your stay here๐น๐
That's not poh piah. Lol.
Singapore ๐ธ๐ฌ is not your typical South East Asia city that you have visited i.e. Thailand๐น๐ญ, Philippines ๐ต๐ญ, Malaysia ๐ฒ๐พ, Indonesia ๐ฎ๐ฉ, Vietnam ๐ป๐ณ, Cambodia ๐ฐ๐ญ, Myanmar ๐ฒ๐ฒ or even Brunei ๐ง๐ณ. A combination of Modern Architecture surrounded by old British ๐ฌ๐ง colonial buildings with lush foliage on the skyscrapers. Very westernized and contemporary yet still preserve the old rustic looks of old village settings. The price of accommodation and food tends to be on the pricey side if you dine on a mostly touristy flank. Go to hawker centers for cheaper options in Singapore ๐ธ๐ฌ. There is plenty of it here and to approximate is beyond comparison. Hope you relish the adventure of staying here in Singapore ๐ธ๐ฌ.
Your soft boil eggs should go with soya sauce and pepper
U missed the dark soya sauce n pepper in d softboiled eggs
Add dark sauce and pepper to your half boiled egg
1:50 Nooooo…you are suppose to add black sauce and pepper powder into the egg Before eating it! ๐
